Why a Facebook Boycott Really Doesn’t Matter for Earnings

None of these boycotts really matter unless you get hundreds of thousands to boycott.  FB has 8,000,000 advertisers. 100 companies are now boycotting,  so there now is 7,999,900 advertisers left. FB along with Instagram has limited ad space available. That’s so you can enjoy the experience of the apps. Each advertiser bids for ad space. The highest bidder gets the space. So therefore it doesn’t matter on how huge the companies ad budget is for FB. If Coke won a bid for an ad for .80 that means they next highest bidder lost, meaning no revenue for FB. If Coke were to leave, the next bidder would win, probably for the same price of .80 cents. Why, because there is limited amount of ad space available for 8,000,000 companies to advertise on.  Oh, I mean 7,999 900 sorry.

When Facebook (FB) blows out earnings because it added all of the new home based business and Shopify stores trying to advertise their business in the last quarter, your going to wish you never sold.  Think about it. How many coke, Unilever, REI  ads have you seen on Facebook?  It’s all about small business because small businesses don’t have the budget for TV, billboards, Radio, etc. Like the big companies do. It’s small business that needs the specific targeting to maximize their small ad budgets to get their business going. That’s why mainly see small gadgets, books and ebooks, new apps, motivational speakers, etc.. advertising on the platform.  Not Coke or Dove Soap ads.  Their budgets are big because they mainly advertise on TV, Radio, Billboards, etc…
